Description Roger, a Rasputin-like drifter, is in search of the ultimate indie-rock band, The Transcendents. What he finds is less than transcendent: a band who has all but abandoned society, a host of unpleasant memories, and more questions than answers in search of his own existential fulfillment. Set in the Wonderland of America's Do-it-Yourself music scene, The Transcendents is a dark comedic fairytale that straddles the line between the absurd and the all too real.

A great movie that is more "horror" than "thriller". It shows the author's frustration with a world of materialism that he sees as both morally corrupt and limiting. The antagonist is actually a man of good will who wishes to help people. He is neither a man of good will nor a villain. The movie opens with his voice over, stating that he is "not a monster". The film ends with his voice over at a bar, where he makes a remark about a woman's ear that is disturbing and gives a voice of a strange woman. We are then taken to the post office, where he offers to mail a package to the woman's friend. We see a young man, his girlfriend and a woman entering the post office. We hear the woman make a comment about a man being crazy. The man then enters the post office, opens the package, and a gun is placed into the woman's hand. We hear the woman's voice, saying "don't let the baby go". The man then leaves the post office, but he leaves the package behind. The man and woman go to the car, and the man tells the woman that he will get the package to her. They drive off. We hear the woman cry for a few moments, then a woman's voice tells us that the woman is missing. We then see the man's truck, and it has been overturned. We hear the man tell the woman that he will get her, and they go to the bar. We see the man place the package into the package-locker. We see the woman standing there, crying. We then see the man get into his truck, drive away, and we hear the woman, now weeping, ask the man, "are you going to kill me?" The movie ends with the voice of the woman, saying that she is happy, and the man is still there. The movie shows us the limits of materialism, and how it destroys people's lives. I highly recommend this movie, and would like to see it again.
