For the first time I have ever written a review of a movie and I have to say that I have not seen a movie that has scared me as much as this one has. My first view of this movie was on a big screen. I had not yet seen the original and was surprised at how much I had enjoyed this movie. I could not get the jump from the first scene and just could not get my mind off of it. I kept thinking about it the next day and was amazed at how many times I had watched it the day before. I knew that this was a movie that was going to make me think and was going to make me think about the events that had happened in my life and it did. I now have the utmost respect for Kubrick and the genius that he is. He created a film that is an insight into the mind of a man who is stuck in his life. A man who has lost all hope and has lost everything that was given to him and it is this film that gives him hope. The whole film is a kind of meditation on the thoughts that are going through a man's mind. The fact that the man's thoughts are the only thing that keep him going in his life and that the movie has helped him understand his life is astounding. I could not have asked for a better movie. I have not seen another movie that has made me feel this way. I have no idea how Kubrick did it. He gave us a masterful movie that will have a lasting effect on the viewers and that I will be watching it for the rest of my life. I give this movie a 10 out of 10. My first review of this movie is written and I am not going to be the one who makes it easy for others to enjoy this movie.

Hitchcock's "The Shining" is one of my favorite movies ever. It's got a great cast, stunning cinematography, and an eerie score that perfectly complements the creepy atmosphere that the movie offers. Nicholson is very good as Jack Torrance, an aspiring writer who, during a particularly harrowing episode of his life, finds himself trapped in a haunted hotel room. Nicholson is one of the few actors who can make even the most mundane character turn into something worth rooting for, and he does it here. Jack Torrance is a troubled man, who is struggling to come to terms with the horrors that he has witnessed. After his brother is murdered by a deranged hotel worker, Jack is blamed for it. He is given a choice: stay in the hotel or leave, but he chooses to stay. He has nowhere else to go, and he decides to stay in the hotel, believing it will help him get out of the rat-infested town he has found himself in. As time passes, Jack's deteriorating mental state begins to change. He begins to have nightmares about the hotel, and he becomes increasingly paranoid, which he believes to be a sign of his mental deterioration. Nicholson is truly one of the most gifted actors in Hollywood history, and he brings the character Jack Torrance to life in a way that's truly unsettling. The movie is also quite unique in its own way. Nicholson doesn't appear to be in the hotel until half-way through the movie, but he is still quite effective as the man who's trapped in the hotel room. He gives one of his most iconic performances as Jack Torrance, and this is one of his best performances. As for the rest of the cast, they are also very good. Nicholson is particularly good, as is Nicholson's co-star Danny Lloyd. Danny Lloyd is quite good as Jack Torrance's friend Danny. The rest of the cast does a very good job too. Overall, "The Shining" is a great movie that I believe has the potential to be as great as it could have been. It is one of the greatest movies ever made, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see a great movie that's scary, scary, scary.
