Description Vitalina Varela takes its title from the name of its lead actress, a Cape Verdean woman who, as per usual with Costa's non-professional actors, plays a fictionalized version of herself. Vitalina first appeared in an episode in the director's previous film, Horse Money (Wavelengths 2015), wherein she recounted how her husband had left their homeland nearly 25 years ago to work in Lisbon - a separation that became permanent when she finally arrived on the continent, three days after his funeral. In Vitalina Varela, Costa refracts and expands that episode to place us firmly within his heroine's stoic point of view, capturing her extraordinary strength and resilience as she navigates the scanty physical traces her husband left behind, discovers his secret, illicit life, and encounters the other lives that darken the shadows of the Fontainhas that once was.

The problems of this film are quite big. There are so many people around you who have different opinions about the same things. It's inevitable. And in the first part of the film, which tells the story of a mother's struggle to raise her daughter who is in the midst of a sex-change operation, we are taken on a journey of a child's personal journey and you get a feeling of dread and worry and you want to scream for them to be treated with respect and compassion. But for the most part, the film is a great ensemble piece that holds together. At first, the film was a little shaky, but with the last few minutes, everything solidifies. I'm not sure what was most important, but I'm willing to say it was the final act. The very last scene of the film was brilliant and I loved it. I felt it was such a unique moment in the film, and I didn't expect it to end so well. I felt it was touching and emotional. I loved the ending and the ending alone was enough to carry the film. The acting was all around very good. Anna Karina and Irene Carbonell were amazing. The chemistry between the two is like magic. They have such a chemistry and they are both so believable in their roles. It's hard to imagine that they are so different, but I loved that. I also liked the chemistry between Alba and Leandra, because of the way they made the connection between them. I also really liked that the film has a strong message. It says something about acceptance and about how people shouldn't judge someone based on their appearance. It also shows that there is no 'right' or 'wrong' to a person. It's important to remember that everyone has their own story. Some people can't accept a person's new appearance and vice versa. All in all, I thought this was a great film. I loved it and I thought it was a great film. It showed the importance of acceptance and I thought it was a great story. It's a great story that should be told. I will definitely be seeing this film again. I loved it, and I hope you will too. 8/10

The title of this movie is a great clue. It's a Brazilian drama with some great performances, and a wonderful opening shot of a city in the distance. It's a country in transition and it is interesting to watch the change. The film is told from the perspective of the two main characters, but the viewer could easily identify with the main character, since he is living in the same part of the world as the main character. The relationship between the two main characters is a big part of the movie. I found that the film was structured in a way that we could easily identify the relationship of the main characters. I didn't have a problem identifying with the main character's family in the beginning of the movie, because I knew what kind of family the main character was from a first glance. It was easy to recognize that he was part of a same family as his parents. The dialogue between the two main characters was very easy to follow, because they were talking so fast and they didn't talk a lot. The movie didn't have a lot of dialogues, but it still was enough to tell the story. There was also a good role for the supporting actors, because I could identify with the main character's friend and his sister. The film was a little predictable, but it was predictable enough. I don't think this movie was designed to be a love story. It was meant to be a drama, and it was a good drama. The performances were great, the direction was very good, and the music was very good. I really liked the movie, and it is worth seeing.
