Description FOR SAMA is both an intimate and epic journey into the female experience of war. A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab's life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her. Her camera captures incredible stories of loss, laughter and survival as Waad wrestles with an impossible choice - whether or not to flee the city to protect her daughter's life, when leaving means abandoning the struggle for freedom for which she has already sacrificed so much. The film is the first feature documentary by Emmy award-winning filmmakers Waad al-Kateab and Edward Watts.

Sama (Konstantin Makarov) is an 18 year old man who has been tortured and abused by the Chechen rebels. He is an avid hunter and, when he finds a dead animal, he starts to hunt for the animal. When he catches a Chechen soldier, he is immediately shot and nearly killed. He then escapes the Chechen territory and makes his way to Russia. He decides to stay in the country and work as a bodyguard for the Russian army. When he is called to duty, he is sent to a village near the Russian border and takes on the role of a local village head. He goes from village to village, trying to get his father out of Chechnya. He finds a number of Chechens who have also been victims of torture and abuse by the rebels. The young man, with the help of some Russian soldiers, begins to try and get his father out of Chechnya. This film is truly an amazing documentary. The film shows the journey of Sama from the Chechen-held territory to Russia. The film shows how he was treated by the Chechen rebels and how he survived the torture and abuse that he endured. The film also shows the brutality of the Chechen rebels. The film also shows how Sama's father is taken from him by the Chechen rebels. This is a very powerful and moving film. The film has some disturbing scenes and some violence. This is not a film that you can show to your children. However, the film is well worth seeing. The film is very well made and well made. It is very well made and well made. I give the film a 10 out of 10.
