The screenplay by Peter Stromberg is the weakest point of the movie. The characters are all rather one-dimensional, not one of the characters is ever developed enough to make you care about them. I was really taken aback at how little a connection one of the characters made with the other. I mean, I know the lead character is supposed to be dying and is dying and is supposed to be depressed and is depressed, but the ending just didn't have me really caring. I had a hard time grasping the ending. The acting was well done. I liked the colors, the camera-work, the photography, the setting, the use of music. I liked the cinematography and the set design. I liked the characters. I just don't feel they were really developed enough. I just didn't care about them or care enough to have a connection with them. The script is probably the weakest part of the movie. I also had a hard time connecting with any of the characters. They weren't likable. They didn't really feel like people, and they just didn't seem to be engaging. I was not able to connect with any of them. The film is supposed to be a drama. It is an interesting drama, but I just didn't care about the characters, I didn't care about anything they did, I didn't care about anything about the plot. The ending was a little disappointing too. It is a little hard to believe they could go through this long without a break and still be able to get it right. I think it is also a little hard to believe that someone would write a screenplay like this, especially after seeing the way they handled "The Kid."

The movie has several dramatic moments that make it stand out from other movies in the same genre. Unfortunately, the movie is so full of clichés, and the parts in which it does not manage to evoke a sense of empathy from the audience, it almost makes it difficult to watch. But the performances of the actors are so powerful that one cannot help but feel for the characters. I am not even sure if it is a good idea to review the movie on its own merits. But I will mention what I liked, and what I did not like, for you to judge for yourself. The only thing I did not like was the "obvious" "the hero is a terrorist" message. That message seemed forced and very annoying, especially with the character played by Jodie Foster. Her character could have easily become sympathetic, if the movie had focused on that message more. And I thought the relationship between the two leads was really too rigid and forced. The same goes for the love story between the two leads. The movie could have been much better if it had focused more on their relationship, instead of their characterizations. I really did not like how the film ended. It was very abrupt, and did not fully explain anything. I understand that the movie was based on a true story, but that was not enough for me to truly care about the characters. If I was watching the movie for emotional reasons, I think I would have liked it more, but for me, I just did not feel it. Overall, the movie was not bad. It has a very powerful message that could have been better done if the movie had focused on it more. But I still think it is a good movie to watch.
