Description As the wavering cry of the foghorn fills the air, the taciturn former lumberjack, Ephraim Winslow, and the grizzled lighthouse keeper, Thomas Wake, set foot in a secluded and perpetually grey islet off the coast of late-19th-century New England. For the following four weeks of back-breaking work and unfavourable conditions, the tight-lipped men will have no one else for company except for each other, forced to endure irritating idiosyncrasies, bottled-up resentment, and burgeoning hatred. Then, amid bad omens, a furious and unending squall maroons the pale beacon's keepers in the already inhospitable volcanic rock, paving the way for a prolonged period of feral hunger; excruciating agony; manic isolation, and horrible booze-addled visions. Now, the eerie stranglehold of insanity tightens. Is there an escape from the wall-less prison of the mind?

The Lighthouse (2007) is a film from David Lynch's The Elephant Man, directed by James Sallis. This is the first Lynch film I have ever seen, and I have to say I liked it. It has a lot of similar elements to The Elephant Man, including the creepy clown-like figure, but the difference is that The Lighthouse is not quite as creepy and is in fact a bit more whimsical. The film follows a woman named Helen, who is a young adult who moves into a house with her mother, her father and her sister. Helen's father is a doctor, and is a bit of a raving alcoholic. Helen's mother is a hippie, and she is also a bit of a drunk. Helen's father is obsessed with watching his own wife die and believes he can do it. One night, Helen and her sister are watching television and the channel suddenly turns to Channel 10. When the channel turns to Channel 10, they discover that the channel is about a man in a lighthouse that was in a business deal with a company called "The Lighthouse" that used to be in a business deal with the company. The woman is convinced that the man is her dead husband. When the company is about to get sued, the man turns out to be a strange woman. Helen and her sister are obsessed with the man, and are convinced he is her dead husband. As the movie goes on, the man becomes more and more twisted and insane. He turns into a giant, goes on a killing spree and is the main reason that the company is in trouble. The movie is quite creepy, and I really enjoyed the film. I would recommend this film to fans of The Elephant Man, or for fans of David Lynch. The Lighthouse (2007) is an eerie film that has elements of The Elephant Man.
