I'm not an Indian, nor am I from North America. But, from the early notes of the theme and the effect it has on the protagonist, I can see why this film got this kind of a response. But, I must confess, I am not a cultural person either. I'm from Austria, where the year was 2008, so the film seems to be in a way a political statement on the current state of the world, but, it's a bit too abstract and not so clear. A lot of people might think the film is too simplistic, but I think the first half was a bit too self-centered, but the second half has all the things to make it interesting. From the two main characters, it seems like they want to prove to everyone that their friendship is actually worth it. What they had to learn about what people are actually thinking is pretty well displayed, and I hope this makes sense. I'm not a political analyst either, but the way the movie is made, I can't really see how it is a critique of any current government or country, but, I think the world has become less stable and more unstable lately, and, I hope, the film is a wake up call to the people about the direction they are taking, and what they need to do to be good citizens. Maybe some people find the film too academic, but I think that it could have been a lot more more explicit, but, then again, it was made in 2008. I think, the thing is that everyone should be educated and able to see past what they see on the news, especially in Europe. That's why I think this film should be seen by the people, and I am sure it will gain a lot of popularity over the next few years. All I can say is, if you like good movies and great dialogue, I would definitely recommend it to you, but, if you don't want to take the movie too seriously, I would say, don't read any of the subtitles, that might spoil the movie for you. To conclude, I think this film is a good start to a new wave of Indie films, but, I think it is not too creative, it just makes you think about the current state of the world, and how the people in the future will deal with it.
