I've just returned from seeing this film and have to say that it is by far the most entertaining film I have ever seen. I was really excited to see this film when I first heard about it but I was so shocked at how well it was done. The film tells the story of Mark (Jason Patric), a man who is a recovering alcoholic. He is a former swimmer who lost his passion for the sport due to his wife's infidelity. Mark lives a very unbalanced life, spending most of his time drunk and his days watching his younger brother take care of his younger brother and sister. However, he still has a dream and has managed to salvage his life from the brink of alcoholism. Mark begins a relationship with a woman he met while swimming, Mia (Haley Joel Osment). When she dies, he begins to drift away from his dreams. He starts seeing a therapist, but the therapist isn't exactly what he was looking for. He meets Mia's friend, Lindsay (Jane Fonda), and they begin to grow closer. They try to help him get over his addiction but he can't let go of his dreams. At one point, he asks her to get his name tattooed on her back and when she accepts his request, he realizes he doesn't need her anymore. She wants to be with Mark. But, it doesn't stop him from seeking help. He begins to take action to get his life back on track. The movie is about the relationship between Mark and Mia. There is a lot of love and caring that goes into the movie. The acting is good, especially the relationship between Mark and Mia. It was a very touching and intense movie. I recommend it to anyone who likes romantic comedies. It is a very unique movie and I hope that other people see it too. This is one of the best movies I've seen in a very long time.
