Description Tolkien explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the "fellowship" apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

I have never read the book, so I'm not sure what I expected to see. I went into the film with low expectations. I thought it would be a good experience to be immersed in the Middle Earth mythology, and to feel the magic of Tolkien's books. I was very impressed. The film does an excellent job of capturing the tone of the books, and I found the characters and scenes very believable. There are some plot holes, but I don't think they detract from the overall experience. The most dramatic flaw was the omission of the scenes involving Gandalf. I would have loved to see what the scene would have been like, especially since the last scene of the film is Gandalf and the dwarf together in the marketplace. The other flaw was that some of the actors seemed to be reading from a script, but there were few "gripping" lines. The actors all seemed to be having fun, and I found myself forgetting the dialogue they were delivering. I would have liked to have seen the same performance from the actors in the battle scenes. I think the scenes of the Black Riders were missing from the film, and I would have loved to see them in the film. The film also felt too short. I understand that it takes time to make a film, but I think there could have been more time devoted to the exploration of the real world of Middle Earth. I also felt that the overall message of the film was more of a romance than a war. The battle scenes were excellent, and I would have liked to have seen more of the battle scenes between the Elves and the Orcs. I believe the movie will be a great experience for Tolkien fans, and I would recommend it to those who have not read the books, but still enjoy Tolkien's work. I would recommend the film to anyone who has read the books, and anyone who is looking for a good movie. I would give it a 9/10.
